Alexander Springs campout and low level light hike

Preliminary information

 


Shaded sites. Paved roads and paved level parking pads.  Hiking trail, natural springs for swimming, SCUBA diving (must be certified diver), canoe rentals by hour or day, 7 1/2 mile canoe run. Convenience store with camping supplies, beach supplies, food, drinks, ice and ice cream. Restaurants, shopping and gas 8 miles from campground. Abundant wildlife viewing consists of alligators, turtles, deer, black bear, turkey, raccoons, and numerous species of birds. Interpretive programs during summer months.

Those scouts that are physically fit and trained for a 10 mile low level light hike will be dropped off at La-No-Che scout reservation and hike to Alexander Springs.  The ballance of the scouts setup a base camp at Alexander Springs group campsite.  To be qualified for this hike a scout needs to be trained in low-level light hiking.  A training event is being offered on June 14th, 2008.
